Miami Heat vs LA Clippers review

Heat vs clippers

Beijing - pre-season game 2013

It's early days but we finally get to see the players hit the court in their uniforms. The first game was hosted in Beijing against the Los Angeles Clippers who played without star guard Chris Paul. Here's a look back at mainly the team, the new all stars and of course, the big 3.

Team:

Heat overall: Chemistry building. Floor spacing effective so far and is bolstered with more 3 point sharpshooters with a 3 point threat possibly from all 5 positions at one time, it makes it difficult for defenses to leave their assignments to help against the slashing of Wade and James. The defensive system is being picked up quickly by the new guys.

View Big 3:

Dwyane Wade: It was refreshing to see DWade on the court. His jump shot was a bit hesitant but understandable coming off injury. He missed a wide open dunk in transition for example, but off of good good defense with steals and blocks.
LeBron James: Effective as usual; using his court vision, still leading the team and stat lines of 20+ points, 5+ assists and 5+ rebounds reflect his game. LeBron seems well in shape showing from Olympics in off season etc. with a show for the fans in China such as his 2 consecutive dunks in the 2nd quarter.
Chris Bosh: Speed and spacing worth it at center for the Heat compared with a mediocre bulk up attempt at the position. Bosh can play most big men defensively well enough either way, it's not like he would be pushed over. Range should help tire out other centers.

View new all stars:

Ray Allen: shot his first 3 pointer in a heat uniform. He played good defense and had good post play to jump shot (1st half). Good weapon to have running through multiple screens.

Rashard Lewis: Smooth shooting. Good show of post moves. Will most likely be playing the 4. Looking healthy. Still had some foul trouble but that's what the pre season is for.

View Newbies:

Temple: Looks promising for a 6 foot 6 point guard but did not provide too much more than that.
Gladness: Length, energy and athleticism was appreciable.
